Croagh Patrick (St. Patrick's Mountain), Westport, Ireland
Hiking Croagh Patrick was how I decided to celebrate finishing my finals. At 6:00 the morning after my last exam I was waking up to catch a taxi with a few lads to the train station for our three hour train ride across Ireland. We arrived at the base of the mountain at about 11:15 am and after battling the cold, wind, and rain we finally reached the top of the 2,500 foot peak where we were completely immersed in the clouds. Fortunately, the hike back down was clear and dry and I was able to capture some pictures. By about 4:30 pm we had made it back down the mountain, caught a ride into town, and followed our noses to a much needed warm bowl of lamb stew and a cold pint. While the adventure may have contributed to the minor cold that I had to fly back home with it was the kind of small, yet exhilarating adventure that allowed me to wrap-up the amazing experience that I have had while living in Ireland for the last few months. My time abroad has allowed me to learn from and meet so many different people and although I am now back with my family in the States, I know a part of me will always be stuck in this beautiful country of Ireland.
I love hearing feedback and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
